Cuban Style Black Beans

(Frijoles negros)

 

 

2 cans black beans

two onions (one for frying)

4 cloves garlic

pimentos

black pepper

bay leaf

dried oregano

lime

fried onions for garnish

olive oil

cooking wine

1 tblsp vinegar

 

 

Fry  the chopped

onion and garlic. Add beans with water, diced green chiles(pimentos), black pepper,

bay leaf, dried oregano, salt to taste, ½ cup cooking white wine,

1 tablespoon vinegar.Cook uncovered on slow heat for one hour.

 

 

 

 

Fry onions in olive oil. Save for garnish.

 

 

 

 

 

Garnish with fried onions.

Serve with pork chops Cuban style(Chuletas de puerco a la Criolla)

 

 

For a Cuban dessert serve rice and milk pudding.
